1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account on the Sation mobile application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and RMRJT Pty Ltd, the operator of the Sation mobile application (“Sation”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
Minimum age: You must be at least 16 years old to use the App. By accepting these Terms, you confirm you are 16 or older.
2. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or a prominent in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not accept the updated Terms, you must stop using the App and may close your account.
3. Description of the App
Sation is an AI-powered small talk coaching application that enables you to:
- Practise casual conversation with AI characters in realistic scenarios (coffee shops, parties, dates, networking events, etc.)
- Receive scores on your conversation skills across two axes: delivery (pace, fillers, pauses, confidence) and connection (curiosity, empathy, balance, flow)
- Track your progress over time with trends, achievements, and personal bests
- Receive micro-challenges to apply your skills in real-world social situations
Sation provides an AI-powered practice tool only. We are not a mental health service, therapy provider, or medical professional. The App is designed to help you practise everyday social skills. It is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment.
4. Account Registration
4.1 Account Types
You may use the App as:
- Guest — try the App without creating a full account (limited features)
- Registered user — full access to all features, progress tracking, and achievements
4.2 Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete registration information
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately at privacy@sation.app if you suspect unauthorised access
You may not share your account, create accounts on behalf of others without their consent, or use automated means to create accounts.
4.3 Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if:
- You breach these Terms
- We are required to do so by law
- You engage in conduct that is harmful to other users, third parties, or Sation
You may close your account at any time via Settings. Closing your account will result in deletion of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
5. AI Characters and Conversations
5.1 Nature of AI Characters
The AI characters you interact with in the App are computer-generated personas. They are not real people. Their responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may not always be accurate, appropriate, or consistent.
5.2 Conversation Content
You acknowledge that:
- AI characters may occasionally produce unexpected, inaccurate, or inappropriate responses
- Conversations are for practice purposes only — do not share genuinely sensitive personal information during sessions
- AI characters do not remember conversations between sessions unless you are interacting with a “recurring character” that explicitly tracks interaction history
- We may update AI character behaviour at any time to improve the experience
5.3 Voice Processing
Your voice is processed on your device using speech recognition technology. Raw audio is never transmitted to our servers. Only text transcriptions and aggregated speech metrics are sent for scoring purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
6. Scoring and Feedback
Session scores are generated using a combination of deterministic analysis (delivery metrics) and AI evaluation (connection scores). Scores are intended as a learning tool and should not be interpreted as a clinical assessment of social ability.
You acknowledge that:
- Scores are approximate and may not perfectly reflect your conversational performance
- AI-generated feedback may contain errors or subjective assessments
- Scores should be used for personal improvement, not as a measure of social competence
- Score calibration may change over time as we improve our scoring algorithms
7. Payments and Subscriptions
7.1 Fees
Certain features of the App may require a paid subscription. Applicable fees and included features are displayed at the time of subscription sign-up.
7.2 Billing
Subscriptions are processed as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store (on iOS) or Google Play (on Android). Subscription entitlement and receipt validation are provided by RevenueCat on our behalf. Your payment details are held securely by Apple or Google in accordance with their own terms and PCI DSS standards — Sation never receives or stores your payment card details, and neither does RevenueCat.
By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the billing terms of the Apple App Store or Google Play, in addition to these Terms.
7.3 Free Trial
We may offer a free trial period. At the end of the trial, you will be charged unless you cancel before the trial expires through your Apple ID or Google Account subscription settings.
7.4 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s subscription settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play → Subscriptions on Android). Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for unused portions of a billing period.
Because subscriptions are processed by Apple and Google, refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google directly, not by Sation. To request a refund:
- iOS: Use Apple’s refund request process at reportaproblem.apple.com
- Android: Use Google Play’s refund process via your Order History
Refunds are otherwise handled in accordance with Australian Consumer Law. If a paid service is not provided as described, or if there is a major failure in the service, you may be entitled to a refund. If Apple or Google decline a refund you believe you are entitled to under Australian Consumer Law, contact us at privacy@sation.app and we will assist.
7.5 Price Changes
We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any price changes. Continued use of a paid feature after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
8.1 Not a Mental Health Service
Sation is a conversational skills practice tool, not a mental health service. The App does not diagnose, treat, or manage any mental health condition, including social anxiety disorder. If you are experiencing significant social anxiety or mental health difficulties, please consult a qualified mental health professional.
8.2 AI-Generated Content
All AI character responses, scoring feedback, and micro-challenges are generated by artificial intelligence and provided for general informational and practice purposes only.
You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate suggestions
- You are solely responsible for evaluating any feedback before applying it in real-world situations
- Sation does not guarantee that using the App will improve your social skills
- AI-generated micro-challenges are suggestions only — use your judgement about what is appropriate in your real-world context
8.3 App Availability
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no representations or warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We may suspend the App for maintenance or updates without notice where necessary.
8.4 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sation is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, or for any harm arising from:
- Your use of the App or any content generated by it
- Any AI-generated feedback, scores, or micro-challenges
- Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the App
- Your application of skills or suggestions from the App in real-world situations
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to Sation in the 3 months prior to the claim, or AUD $100.
8.5 Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or any other applicable Australian law that cannot be excluded by contract.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Sation’s IP
The App, including its software, design, AI characters, scoring algorithms, trademarks, and content created by Sation, is owned by or licensed to Sation. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without our written consent.
9.2 Your Data
Your conversation transcripts, scores, and progress data belong to you. You may request export or deletion at any time (see our Privacy Policy).
9.3 Feedback
If you provide us with feedback or suggestions about the App, we may use that feedback without restriction and without obligation to you.
10. Acceptable Use
You must not use the App to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to manipulate, exploit, or abuse the AI characters or scoring system
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or reproduce the AI characters, prompts, or scoring algorithms
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or another user’s account
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers on the App without our written consent
- Introduce malware, viruses, or other malicious code
- Use the App in a way that could harm other users or the service
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts of users who breach this section.
11. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
12.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
12.2 Dispute Resolution
If you have a dispute with us, please contact us at privacy@sation.app first. We will attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days.
If the dispute is not resolved informally, either party may refer the matter to the courts of Victoria, Australia.
13. General
13.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sation regarding the App.
13.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
13.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
13.4 Assignment
You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights to a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
